FWSF ANNUAL DINNER AUCTION 2008 Raised a Quarter Million Dollars

Col. Oliver North (Ret.) Keynote Speaker (photo credit Gary Baumgarten)
Annual Dinner Auction at Laurel Manor had over 900 guests attending for the 3rd Annual Dinner Auction
The event featured two recipients who benefited from FWSF organization that helped them through their life-altering injuries that they had suffered defending our freedom. Jerold Boler U.S. National Guard and Robert LaMarche U.S. Army, presented their stories of how they survived and how Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund helped them through the funds they needed when there was nowhere else to turn.
The two emotional speeches brought the attention to everyone that FWSF is Michigan’s premiere foundation to donate money to help wounded and military families that have given so much for our freedom.
Keynote speaker Lt. Col. Oliver North (Ret.) gave a very compelling talk that kept everyone’s attention. North is host of War Stories on Fox News Channel and an author of 11 books amongst his many other military accomplishments.
Once those in attendance were plied with wine and elegant dinner, the way that only Laurel Manor can do this for a large crowd, the emcee for the evening Chuck Gaidica (WDIV) and Col. Oliver North used their persuasiveness to loosen the wallets by challenging to match the one thousand dollar check that Oliver North was writing. Within a minute 43 people stood up to give their check. With the great auction items and the generous corporate sponsors we at FWSF exceeded our goal and now over $250,000. that can help more families with money still streaming in.
Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund wants to thank everyone who participated, donated, attended or helped in any way to make this event so exceptional.
We are deeply grateful,

Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund is proud to participate in Emmy Award winning Keith Famie's production of "Detroit: The Greatest Generation," a spirited, reverent look at the men and women from Detroit who fought in the titanic struggle that was World War II.

The program will be a one-hour, commercial free showing on WDIV in late Fall, 2009. There will be a special premier of the program at the Yankee Air Museum, scheduled for October 3, 2009. This premier will be a dinner/cocktail, 1940's style event similar to the parties that marked our victory in WWII.
The FWSF's mission is to help veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. We owe much to the Greatest Generation, who showed us all what it means to take care of our troops.
